Tips For Driving

Most car seats are not designed with the spine in mind, though most are now fully adjustable. As such, it is important to do as much as you can to minimize stress upon your spine when behind the wheel, particularly if you drive often and for long distances. You should move your seat back until your thighs rest comfortably on the seat and your feet are easily on the pedals. Reaching for the pedals can strain your back. Elevate the headrest until it is right behind the mid/back of your head. This is important in the case of an accident. Sit straight forward with your back against the seat back. If you car seat has a built-in lumbar support, use it. If not, or if it is inadequate, we can recommend a cushion or lumbar support that you can purchase to place on the seat. Though it might be obvious from a safety point of view, keep both hands on the wheel, since it will help maintain good posture. If driving for a long distance you should try to stop and stretch for five minutes every hour to prevent back strain.
